Location: Catford, South East London
Working pattern: Four days in the office and one day working from home
Hours: 9.00am to 5.00pm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, permanent; four days per week also considered
An established South East London law firm is seeking a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join its property team.
The firm provides high-quality legal advice with a personal approach and a strong emphasis on client care. This opportunity would particularly suit someone who wants to undertake good-quality property work within a supportive local practice, without the long hours and volume-driven demands often associated with larger City firms.
The successful candidate will manage a varied but sensible caseload, allowing them to provide clients with a responsive and personal service. There will also be scope to undertake commercial property work and, for an ambitious solicitor, work towards a future Partner-level position.
The Role
You will manage residential property transactions from instruction through to post-completion, including:
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- Remortgages and transfers of equity
- Buy-to-let transactions
- Lease extensions and enfranchisement matters
- Sales and purchases involving higher-value or more complex properties
- Reviewing titles, searches and mortgage documentation
- Liaising with clients, agents, lenders and other solicitors
- Managing exchange, completion and post-completion requirements
- Developing relationships with existing clients and local professional contacts
Depending on your experience and interests, you will also have the opportunity to undertake commercial property matters, including sales and purchases, leases and landlord and tenant work.
The Candidate
You will be a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with:
- Strong residential conveyancing experience
- The ability to manage transactions with minimal supervision
- A thorough understanding of the conveyancing process
- Excellent client-care and communication skills
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- A practical and commercially minded approach
- The ability to manage deadlines while maintaining a high standard of service
- An interest in developing professional relationships and contributing to the practice
Some commercial property experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
The firm is particularly interested in candidates who live within a reasonable commute of Catford and are looking to build a long-term career within an established local practice.
